The
Academy of Marketing was founded in order to lead and support scholarship
in Marketing.
The Academy works across the UK to further marketing education and research.
One of the Academy's goals is to support marketing academics
and associated staff as they develop their careers. As part of this aim,
The CIM Charitable Trust has regularly provided funding to allow doctoral
students to attend the Academy of Marketing's Doctoral Colloquium. The
most recent was held in London in 2006 organised by Middlesex University
Business School.
The funding enabled 17 doctorate students to attend
the colloquium, covering their accommodation, travel, registration, refreshments
and the doctorial colloquium dinner. The CIM Charitable Trust also sponsored
the CIM Trust Special Award for Teaching and Learning, and awarded four
'CIM Charitable Trust rising star' bursaries for students deemed to most
benefit from attendance at all the conference dinners at VIP tables.
"The
funding from the CIM Charitable Trust had enabled deserving doctorate
students to enjoy a unique learning experience in attending the Academy
of Marketing Doctoral Colloquium. The Special Award for Teaching and Learning,
presented by the Charitable Trust at the Colloquium will help to raise
the profile of teaching and learning issues within the Academy. "
- Dr. Paul Baines, Co-chair, Academy of Marketing Conference 2006.
The CIM Charitable Trust has supported the Academy of
Marketing since 1998.
