The
Media Trust believes that everyone should have a voice and the opportunity
to be
heard.
To work with media organisations and
charities to enhance their communications and enable communities to
find their
voice and make it heard.
Media Trust's
Media Matching programme brings charities together with journalists
and communications professionals and advisers who volunteer
their skills to support charities and voluntary organisations that
want to improve the way they communicate. The time it takes can be over
a
long period or as short as five minutes at a 'speedmatching' evening.
It is up to the volunteer adviser how much time they can spare, but
however little, it can make a huge difference to a small charity.
During
year 2008-09 more than 3,600 charity professionals were trained in marketing
and communications skills through the Media Trust's
training and events programme. Through their partnership with the Press
Association, the Community Newswire was used by over 2,000 organisations
during the year, including 756 for
the first time. And they made more than 750 'matches' between charitable
organisations and volunteer media/ communications experts.
"Charities
have a unique ability to reach into communities and make a difference
where it matters most."
Caroline Diehl, Chief Executive, Media Trust
The
Marketing Trust were pleased to make a one-off grant to support the
relaunch of Media Trust Cymru to provide a new Media Matching service
in Wales giving charities and community groups a stronger voice
This free
service will be able to match skilled advisers as volunteers with charities
or voluntary organisations. With hundreds of registered
advisers, a huge range of skills are covered including PR, marketing,
design, branding, digital media, web services and communications strategies.
"I
will be helping charities in Wales to get their message out there.
This will improve the way the voluntary sector communicates and
therefore help them raise funds and awareness of their cause which
is essential for smaller organisations with little money to spend on
communications.
We are particularly keen to encourage more Welsh speakers to get
involved with Media Matching."
Joanne Sullivan, Media Matching Manager
for Media Trust Cymru
